If you have a fondness for green energy, you’ll want to check out wind power in action at Lamma Winds. Standing 71 metres tall, the 800 kW wind turbine is Hong Kong’s first and was built to provide a practical look at operating wind turbines. Tai Ling on Lamma Island was chosen for this installation because it’s one of the breeziest places in Hong Kong.
Details of the Lamma Winds project are provided at the tower base of the turbine, together with an energy meter that shows real-time data on the performance of the wind turbine, including its wind velocity, power output, total amount of electricity generated and carbon dioxide reduced to date. Lamma Winds also houses an interesting exhibition about renewable energy.
